Brooke H. Steckler passed away on December 20th, 2012 due to heart complications. Brooke was born October 29th, 1940 in Philadelphia to William and Geraldine Helriegel. Brooke has lived in Indianapolis since graduating from Wittenberg University. Brooke was married to W. Rudolph Steckler (deceased) and is survived by her two children, Matthew Steckler of Glenwood Springs, CO and Melissa Steckler Ready of Manhattan Beach, CA and two grandchildren, Peter Steckler and Carolyn Ready. Brooke is also survived by her two sisters, Joan H. Budd (twin sister) and Lynne H. Shorey. Brooke spent her early career as a school teacher at St. Pius X and Brebeuf Jesuit High School. Her propensity to help students and athletes along with her desire to be involved in the community garnered her a position with the first IAAF World Indoor Championships. Later, she worked for the Indianapolis Museum of Art as their Director of Volunteers. A memorial services will be held at Our Lady of Peace Cemetery on Friday, May 24th at 3:00pm, located at 9001 Haverstick Road in Indianapolis.
